Before joining Novocure in 2016, Julia Schwarzenberger worked for a brain tumor advocacy group in Germany for six years. In that role, she shared information about ongoing clinical trials, seeking second opinions and therapy options with brain tumor patients and their families.
Julia’s desire to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients led to her employment at Novocure. When she met Novocure employees who are now her colleagues at medical conferences, she was always impressed by their character.
“The first people I met six or seven years ago had to face great reservations and biases in bringing a different cancer treatment to patients,” she said. “Nevertheless, they were dynamic and incredibly committed.”
Julia also was interested in Novocure’s therapy.
“The mechanism of action and theory behind tumor treating fields were not only interesting but kind of spectacular to me,” she said.
In her current role as a Key Account Manager in Germany, Julia informs health care providers (HCPs) about Novocure’s treatment for glioblastoma (GBM). She works to raise acceptance of the treatment among HCPs and shares Novocure’s data in GBM. She also aims to optimize communication between HCPs and patients.
I am happy to be a part of something that brings hope to cancer patients. Everyone working at Novocure is doing their best to help patients every day.
“We want to raise acceptance of our treatment,” Julia said. “That’s the most interesting, but also the most difficult part of my job.”
Regardless of whether GBM patients choose to receive Novocure’s treatment, she thinks they deserve to know it’s an option.
“Patients should have the information so they can make their own decision,” Julia said.
Julia also enjoys the collaborative nature of working at Novocure along with working for a growing company.
“Our teamwork is really outstanding,” she said. “It’s exciting to see our company developing.”
Above all, she feels inspired by helping cancer patients.
“Our topic is equally important and sophisticated,” Julia said regarding her interactions with HCPs. “I am happy to be a part of something that brings hope to cancer patients. Everyone working at Novocure is doing their best to help patients every day.”
