William F. Doyle Executive Chairman
Bill Doyle is the Executive Chairman of Novocure and Managing Director of WFD Ventures LLC. Prior to co-founding WFD Ventures, Bill was a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Devices and Diagnostics Group Operating Committee and Vice President, Licensing and Acquisitions. At J&J, Bill was also Chairman of the Medical Devices Research and Development Council, Worldwide President of Biosense-Webster and a member of the board of directors of Cordis and Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, J&J's venture capital subsidiary. Earlier in his career Bill was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Bill holds a S.B. in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Asaf Danziger Chief Executive Officer
Asaf Danziger has served as CEO of Novocure since 2002. He has led the company and the development of TTF therapy from pre-clinical testing through regulatory approvals in Europe and the US, and to commercial sales. Asaf was previously CEO of Cybro Medical, a subsidiary of Imagyn Medical Technologies. Asaf holds a B.Sc. in material engineering from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
Gabriel Leung Vice Chairman, Chair of Global Commercialization Team
Gabe Leung is the Vice Chairman of Novocure’s board and serves as the Chairman of the Global Commercialization Team. Mr. Leung retired as executive vice president of OSI Pharmaceuticals and the President of OSI’s Pharmaceuticals Business following the Astellas Pharma Inc. acquisition of OSI in 2010. Mr. Leung was responsible for the launch of Tarceva (erlotinib) at OSI Pharmaceuticals and guided the product to the most successful launch in U.S. oncology history with global sales exceeding $1.2 billion in 2009. Prior to his tenure at OSI, Mr. Leung served as group vice president of the global prescription business at Pharmacia, leading Pharmacia’s oncology franchise with business and medical affairs operations in over 80 countries. Earlier in his career, he was an executive at Bristol-Myers Squibb where he led the growth of Taxol and Paraplatin into the then number one and number two chemotherapeutic agents in the United States. Mr. Leung is a pharmacist and trained at the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his B.S. degree with High Honors. He attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned his M.S. degree in Pharmacy, with concentration in pharmaceutical marketing.
Yoram Palti, M.D., Ph.D. Chief Technology Officer
Professor Palti is a professor emeritus of physiology and biophysics at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, the inventor of TTF therapy and the company's founder. Professor Palti was previously the head of the Rappaport Institute for Research in the Medical Sciences, the research arm of the Technion Medical School, for 12 years. Prior to his appointments at the Technion, he was an associate professor of physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also founded and managed Carmel Biosensor Ltd. and CellSense Ltd. Professor Palti is the author of more than 40 patents and 70 scientific papers.
Wilco Groenhuysen Chief Financial Officer
Wilco Groenhuysen joined Novocure in January 2012 as Chief Financial Officer. Wilco was previously executive vice president and CFO of Cephalon, Inc. where he had responsibility for worldwide finance, commercial operations and risk management. Prior to joining Cephalon in 2007 he spent 20 years with Philips Electronics in various assignments in Europe, Asia and the United States, latest of which started in 2002 when he was promoted to CFO and senior vice president of Philips Electronics North America Corporation.
Mike Ambrogi Chief Operating Officer
Mike Ambrogi joined Novocure in 2006 and serves as Chief Operating Officer. Mike has overall responsibility for Novocure’s ongoing clinical, manufacturing, and service activities worldwide. Mike was previously the General Manager of Deka Research and Development, inventor Dean Kamen’s R&D firm. Mike led Deka’s teams on breakthrough products including the Baxter HomeChoice peritoneal dialysis machine, the Davol Hydroflex surgical irrigation device, the Cordis Crowne Stent, and the J&J IBOT 3000 mobility system. Earlier in his career, Mike was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Mike holds a S.B. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Eilon Kirson, M.D., Ph.D. Chief Science Officer and Head of Research and Development
Dr. Kirson joined Novocure in 2002 and serves as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Kirson has global responsibility for Novocure’s clinical and product development programs, as well as the company’s regulatory strategy. In his tenure at Novocure, Dr. Kirson has led the development of TTF therapy from pre-clinical testing to large, multi-center phase III studies. Dr. Kirson previously served as Head of Electrophysiology at Carmel Biosensensors. Dr. Kirson received his B.Med.Sc., M.D. and Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Hebrew University and underwent his residency in neurology at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Ha-Shomer Hospital, Israel.
